Additional Payments: Casual car user allowance, Night Rate Plussage (8pm - 6am)

  • Qualification: The post holder will be required to hold the Diploma Level 3 in working with Children and Young People in Residential Care or its equivalent. Or be willing and able to undertake the Diploma Level 3 in working with Children and young people within 6 months of being appointed.
  • Candidate must hold and maintain an up to date nationally recognised certificate in the use of physical intervention and restraint and as approved by Children’s Residential Service.
  • Candidate must hold and maintain current and up to date training certificates demonstrating satisfactory completion of mandatory training as required by the Children’s Homes Regulations
  • Medical Clearance - Pre-placement health assessment (PPHA)
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.

This is a role for a Full Time Night Residential Child Care Worker to work within a residential children’s home. We are looking for people who believe they have the qualities and skills needed to support our children to maintain stability.

This is a new and exciting opportunity as Manchester City Council are opening a new Children’s home for two young people aged 11-17 years. We are looking for people who believe they have the qualities and skills needed to support our children who are emotionally challenging and have complex needs.

  • You will need to be resilient and be able to establish and maintain relationships with young people, to challenge their existing patterns of behaviour.
  • You will help create a culture and ethos within the home in which the needs of the young people are paramount, and they are encouraged to develop, mature and grow. In addition, you will work proactively with other professionals across multi agencies and with parents to assess the young people’s needs and ensure positive outcomes.
  • Good standard of verbal and written communication and ICT is needed. The team will work proactively in maintaining a high level of care for the young people. The team are consistent in their approach whilst working together in order to provide the best possible care to the young people they work with.

About the Candidate

You must have 12 months experience of working with children, young people, and families. You should also have the NVQ level 3/Diploma in Caring for Children and Young people or will need to commit to complete this qualification.
