This role is subject to -

Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an daily basis. You must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

Qualification You will have a Lifting Equipment and Electrical Safety related qualification with a track record of success in a surveying role within housing. 

  

This role will work within the Assets and Repairs team in Housing Services, responsible for providing surveying expertise for the repairs and maintenance team to ensure that MCC deliver on the vision that the service is fit for purpose and is future proofed which requires a lifting equipment & electrical safety specialist who oversees the lifting equipment & electrical safety function for our council homes & properties, duties include:

 

• Ensuring the effective delivery of the circa £1m annual compliance & repairs service.

• Ensuring the effective delivery of the electrical safety service.

• Ensuring the effective management of the electrical and lifting equipment risk management service.

• Ensuring the effective engagement with residents on matters relating to electrical compliance ensuring effective resident empowerment by building their understanding of their own and neighbour’s safety.

• Working as part of the Building Safety leadership function, deliver a programme of electrical safety compliance ensuring that Manchester City Council remains fully compliant with all statutory, regulatory and best practice requirements.

About the Candidate

You will have a Lifting Equipment and Electrical Safety related qualification with a track record of success in a surveying role within housing. You must have knowledge and understanding of public services delivered at a place level and the structural, legislative and policy context within which these services operate, including an understanding of the regional policy context for local government with experience of delivering high-quality services gained in a multi-site, complex lifting equipment & electrical safety environment. You must also have a proven track record of achieving and sustaining lifting equipment & electrical safety compliance in the post Grenfell era, including experience of carrying out lifting equipment & electrical related inspections with excellent knowledge and proven record of application of current statutory, regulatory, and best practice requirements with regard to lifting equipment and electrical workstreams for residential buildings in scope.
