BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance - this post is subject to BPSS checks. The Housing Compliance & Enforcement Team are a Citywide team based at Hammerstone Road in Gorton and are responsible for dealing with housing disrepair in the private rented sector and licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and Discretionary Licensing Schemes such as Selective Licensing. The team responds to service requests from tenants and undertakes projects to tackle inadequate and dangerous private rented housing across Manchester.

The team carries out a range of regulatory roles in meeting its statutory duties designed to protect residents living in the private rented sector, ensuring private landlords and agents are meeting their legal obligations and take firm action against those landlords who flout the law or act irresponsibly.
 
The Compliance Support Officer will carry out essential compliance and administrative work in relation to HMO and Selective licensing, including processing of licensing applications, as well as providing direct support to the Housing Compliance Officers who are responding to service requests, carrying out programmed compliance inspections as part of the Councils private rented sector licensing schemes and working on proactive projects to tackle rogue landlords.

You will be providing accurate, technical advice and guidance to landlords/agents on compliance with private rented property licensing schemes and their statutory obligations under all applicable and relevant legislation, codes, best practice and policies.

About the Candidate

We are seeking to recruit a Compliance Support Officer for the Housing Compliance and Enforcement Team.  Good ICT & communication skills are essential as the successful candidate will use a number of systems and will need to communicate effectively to a range of audiences including managers, businesses, solicitors and partners.

Its desirable that candidates have experience of the following systems -  SAP, Academy, REASON, Experian and Flare.
